ABOUT US

The Memphis Health Jamboree is a community-wide, indoor and outdoor public health celebration launching in April 2027, thoughtfully designed for 200 to 400 participants. It is a culturally rooted, community-driven public health experience designed to strengthen trust, connection, and wellness across Memphis. More than a traditional health fair, it is a vibrant, sensory-rich celebration where culture, community, and health come together to transform wellness into joy, empowerment, and shared belonging. At its core, the Jamboree is about relationships. It is built on the belief that public health is strongest when it grows alongside the people it serves and reflects the culture, creativity, and everyday lives of Memphis residents.

Rather than asking people to simply receive information, the Jamboree invites participation through food, movement, music, art, and conversation. Designed for meaningful engagement, the experience brings together community organizations, health institutions, artists, educators, and local vendors to create a space that feels accessible, welcoming, and deeply connected to the city. It is an intergenerational gathering that blends equity, culture, celebration, and learning into one shared experience.

While the event takes place over one day, it represents a broader vision for how wellness can be experienced in Memphis. Through continued community engagement and collaboration, the Jamboree aims to inspire lasting connections, encourage healthier lifestyles, and create a foundation for ongoing, community-centered approaches to health and well-being.

OUR MISSION

To transform how public health is experienced by creating a third space where health lives in food, movement, art, music, storytelling, and connection, not only in clinical settings.

OUR VISION

The Memphis Health Jamboree centers joy, belonging, culture, trust, equity, and access, creating welcoming, culturally rooted experiences that make health inclusive and judgment-free.

Founders Perspective

The Memphis Health Jamboree began not as a plan, but as a question: What if public health felt like belonging, like joy, like home, like a true celebration of community?

Too often, conversations about health happen in spaces that feel clinical, distant, or disconnected from everyday life. Across Memphis, wellness has always lived in vibrant ways, in kitchens where recipes are passed down, in the rhythm of music, and in communities that care for one another.

The Jamboree was created from the belief that wellness should feel familiar, joyful, and rooted in home, not intimidating or exclusive.

Rather than focusing only on systems and statistics, it invites people to experience wellness through culture, connection, and community care, where movement, music, storytelling, food, and public health come together in one shared space.

Though not originally from Memphis, this city has shaped my understanding of community, resilience, and joy. The Jamboree is a way of giving back, a reflection of the people, culture, and spirit that make Memphis feel like home.
